Florida city limiting idling, saves $1.5 million and 400,000 gallons of fuel annually.
“…the mayor announced the new ban on idling for more than five minutes by any of the city’s hundreds of city utility vehicles, unless one needs the engine running to operate equipment.
“…the goal is to cut idling in half, saving tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands, of city dollars and also reducing pollution. The city’s set a goal to reduce emissions 19 percent by 2018.
“It’s just a great way for us to do the right thing,” said Art Macey, FPL’s director of fleet services.”
