Shorepower – Plug In and Save

The Selma News – October 2009

The Selma News, local newspaper of Kenly, North Carolina, reports on the grand opening of Shorepower at Big Boy’sselma Truck Stop – the first in the southeast to have electrification pedestals for truckers.  The project came about through a partnership between Big Boy’s, ShorePower Technologies, Advanced Energy, and the North Carolina Solar Center of NC State University.

“Truckers can save money by using the electrical pedestals which will cost about $1 per hour compared to the cost of running the engine which uses a gallon of diesel fuel (approx. $2.65/gallon) per hour. Truckers have mandates of down time hours that they must follow.”
