Oregon City News “Sustainable Life” column, wrote about Oregon’s attempt to woo Chinese automaker BYD to locate their manufacturing facilities in the Portland area.
Gov. Ted Kulongoski, U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith, Mayor Tom Potter, Mayor Sam Adams have met with representatives from BYD Auto of Shenzhen. BYD envisions selling two models in the North American market: the F3DM and the F6DM. The cars, which likely will sell for $25,000 to $30,000, are manufactured in China.
The article points out that Portland is already a leader in electric charging infrastructure, which makes the relationship a natural.
