Shorepower's Research & Development Group is working on several new transportation technologies that promise greater energy efficiency and cleaner air.

Shorepower is engaged in several exciting R & D projects. The first is a demonstration of a hydraulic, hybrid regenerative braking system in a refuse truck application, executed in conjunction with a major supplier of hardware.

The second project demonstrated a pre-commercial version of an Electric Trailer Refrigeration Unit (ETRU) to prepare it for the commercial market. ETRU, like Shorepower TSE, allows trailer refigeration units to be run with electrical power rather than diesel engines, saving fuel during idle periods and limiting emissions.

We are also demonstrating the promise of Plug - in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) in a New York State Project. Several PHEVs will be delivered to the State in this pilot demonstration.

Shorepower is the truck stop electrification (TSE) technology that allows truckers to plug in during rest periods for fuel efficiency, money savings, cleaner air, and a better night's rest. Read more about the Shorepower TSE.

Shorepower is building a growing network of facilities. Six travel plazas in Oregon and Washington State will soon offer Shorepower TSE to customers. Read about this network.
